Project Cicero Book Drive Underway

The student-led Project Cicero Book Drive for northern NJ is underway at D-E now through March 3, 2017.

Of special note is that the drive, now in its fifth year, will have its final key phase -- book sorting and distribution -- take place on the Dwight-Englewood School campus!

Project Cicero NNJ student co-leader Ethan Hunter explains, "Project Cicero NNJ is an annual non-profit book drive designed to create and supplement classroom libraries in under-resourced New Jersey public schools. Each year, over 40 schools including D-E in Northern New Jersey host book collections. [Since it began in 2013], Project Cicero NNJ has been responsible for placing approximately 150,00 books in 200 local classrooms."

The books donated will be for children ages pre-school through 12th grade. There are specific requirements that the donated books are in new or gently used condition. Click here for an informational flyer detailing the types of books that are most needed.

Project Cicero NNJ collection boxes will be located in the D-E Upper School at Klein Campus Center, Leggett Hall, and Hajjar STEM Center; and they will also be placed in the lobby areas of the Lower School and the Middle School's Umpleby Hall.

Volunteers are then needed to help with the culminating sorting and distribution effort at D-E, which will take place in Silberfein Gym, Modell's Sports Complex, on Friday, March 3 (from 4:00 - 9:00 PM) and Saturday, March 4 (from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM).  Community service hours are available for students who volunteer.

All volunteers are encouraged to sign-up online here:
