Upper School student vocalist Erica Butler dazzled audiences earlier tonight, Friday, Jan. 7, earning the distinctive honor of being named the winner of the 6th Annual “Englewood Idol" event. Students Gina Marie Enriquez and Brian Park also represented Dwight-Englewood in spectacular fashion, both earning finalists nods for their performances. Lexi Byron, Kara Byron, Zoe Oz, Taylor Gilroy, Danni Chalfin, and Erica Klein, aka 'SixChix', also performed as dancers and won the coveted, competitive title of "Best Dance Crew". In the words of Alan Brown, D-E Upper School Dean and one of the many enthusiatic fans in the audience: "[The performances] tonight were electrifying. This was a great night for Dwight-Englewood School!"
Englewood Idol took place at the BergenPAC Theater in Englewood, and brought together Englewood students from four area high schools: The Dwight-Englewood School, Dwight Morrow High School, the Academies @ Englewood, and Bergen Catholic High School. Englewood Idol benefits the the Dr. John Grieco Scholarship Fund.
Auditions for Englewood Idol are open to any high school student living in, or attending school in, Englewood, NJ. Only eleven talented semi-finalists were selected including Butler, Enriquez and Park. In addition to these performers, Upper School student Ethan First accompanied Butler. Student Michael Hajjar served as co-MC, and Alexander Koren and Andre Amirsaleh provided intermission juggling entertainment.
