The host Dwight-Englewood School held on to beat visiting Harrison 9-6 in an NJIC Liberty Division game. The Bulldogs CF junior Lachlan Charles had the big hit of the game as his bases loaded double drove in three runs staking D-E to a lead they would never lose. Senior RHP Will Schwartz (1-1) got the mound win with relief help from junior Joe Viviano and freshman Jake Lagana. Harrison's attack was led by D. Huseinovic whose two-run home run gave the Blue Tide hope in the top of the 7th.
The streaking ( four wins in a row) Dwight-Englewood School Bulldogs defeated the Bogota HS Buccaneers 7-3 in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament hosted annually by Park Ridge HS. Senior SS Mike Guerriero went 4 for 4 at the plate with a stat line that included four runs scored, two stolen bases, a solo HR, and an RBI double. Sophomore 1B Will DelRio laid down a perfectly executed suicide squeeze bunt to drive in a run and shone defensively in the field. Guerriero also threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief in support of winning pitcher Lachlan Charles, including striking out the side in the bottom of the 7th inning. The win put the Bulldogs above .500 with a record of 5 wins and 4 losses.
The host Dwight-Englewood School Bulldogs took the NJIC Liberty Division contest over the visiting Queen Of Peace Griffins by a final score of 15-2 in a game shortened to 4 and 1/2 innings due to the ten run mercy rule. Freshman Jake Lagana pitched three solid innings to get the first mound win of his high school varsity career. He allowed two hits, one run, and struck out six. Sophomore 1B Will DelRio led the Bulldog attack with two hits and four RBI's. Senior SS Mike Guerriero went 3 for 3 with a double, triple, and single for D-E. Junior OF Cameron Dupre and soph IF Josh Linder each drove in two runs for the Bulldogs who raised their record to 3-4 overall; 2-3 league. Queen Of Peace fell to 1-6 overall; 1-4 league.
The host Dwight-Englewood Bulldogs won the nightcap of a split doubleheader as two Bulldog pitchers combined to no hit visiting St. Benedict's Prep of Newark. The game featured a few milestones for the Bulldogs: the 11-1 win (shortened to 4 and 1/2 innings by the 10 run mercy rule) was their first of the season, snapping a three game losing streak. The win was the first career Varsity win for new Head Baseball Coach Frank Salvano, Jr. Sophomore right-hander Dan Neuwirth (3 innings) got his first career Varsity win and combined with senior left-hander Oliver Oz (2 innings) to no hit St. Benedict's. Junior left fielder Cameron Dupre sparked the attack with six RBI's including a three-run double. Senior shortstop Mike Guerriero had an RBI triple and finished with 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Oz stroked an RBI single to back up his relief effort on the mound
Dwight-Englewood was led by junior left fielder Cameron Dupre who went 4 for 4 with two runs scored and one RBI. The host Harrison Blue Tide improved their record to 4-0 as they held off the visiting Bulldogs from Dwight-Englewood 10-7.
